The President of the United States of America (USA), Donald Trump, celebrated today the final broadcast of the satirical television program “The Late Show” hosted by comedian Stephen Colbert. “Colbert is finally finished at CBS. Amazing that he lasted so long!”, the US leader wrote on his digital platform, Truth Social. For Trump, Colbert was “untalented, had no audience, had no life (…) like a dead person.”
“Anyone off the street would be better than that complete idiot. Thank God he’s finally gone!”, the American president wrote.
The cancellation of the program, which had been on the air for 33 years with different hosts and creators, was announced in the summer, and Colbert had accused Trump of bribing decision-makers with a 16 million dollar (about 14 million euro) deal for Paramount, the company that owns the network, following a dispute over the editing of an interview with his former presidential race rival, Kamala Harris.
In recent weeks, “The Late Show” hosted several high-profile guests, including former President Barack Obama, actor Tom Hanks, and host Oprah Winfrey, who all expressed support in the face of CBS’s decision to pull the timeslot’s ratings-leading program off the air.

On Wednesday, for the penultimate show, singer Bruce Springsteen, an outspoken critic of Donald Trump, appeared to demonstrate his support for the host.
“You’re the first guy in the United States to lose his show because we have a President who cannot take a joke,” the famous singer-songwriter said. CBS insisted that the decision to cancel “The Late Show” was purely financial, unrelated to the efforts of its parent company, Paramount, to obtain government approval for its 8.4 billion dollar merger with Skydance Media.
