The President of the United States praised the speech by King Charles III of the United Kingdom to the US Congress and stated that the monarch achieved what he himself never could: “making the Democrats stand up.”
“I couldn’t believe it, I was never able to do that,” the Republican President told the British monarch on Tuesday during the state dinner at the White House, referring to the positive reception of the speech by both parties.
Trump had already praised Charles III’s intervention when he arrived at the White House, admitting he felt envious of the speech the monarch gave.

The US leader also briefly addressed the war with Iran, saying that the United States will not allow “that adversary to have a nuclear weapon.” “Charles agrees with me even more,” he noted.
During the dinner, King Charles III paid tribute to Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for their “courage and firmness,” as well as to the Secret Service agents who responded during the attack at the White House Correspondents’ dinner last Saturday at the Hilton Hotel.
“If it weren’t for us, you’d be speaking French,” Charles also joked, recalling a statement by Trump, who once claimed that if it weren’t for the United States, people would be speaking German in the United Kingdom.
