TACV Cape Verde Airlines has announced the launch of a direct air connection between Praia and Recife, marking the return of flights between Cape Verde and Brazil after a six-year suspension.
The new route aims to strengthen air connectivity between Cape Verde and the Brazil, with operations expected to begin in May. The launch event is taking place in Recife and is led by the Cape Verdean Minister of Tourism and Transport, José Luís Sá Nogueira.
Initially, the service will operate once a week using a Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, with plans to increase frequency to two weekly flights later in 2026.

According to the government, the route is designed to boost tourism, increase passenger flows, and position Cape Verde as a strategic stopover hub in the Atlantic. It will also improve access to Europe and Africa through connecting flights from Praia, while supporting trade and cargo transport between the two regions.
The initiative follows the approval of ETOPS 120-minute certification by Cape Verde’s Civil Aviation Authority in December 2025, enabling TACV to operate longer transatlantic routes more efficiently.
Before the suspension in 2020, TACV operated flights to several Brazilian cities, including Recife, Fortaleza, Salvador, and Porto Alegre.
