FNAC Group approves purchase offer for the owner of the largest football club in the Czech Republic

Daniel Kretinsky is the second richest man in the Czech Republic and owns FC Sparta Prague. He wants to become the majority shareholder of the group that owns the FNAC and MediaMarkt stores in Portugal and across Europe.

The Fnac Darty administrative committee has given the green light to a purchase proposal for the group. The transaction will involve paying 36 euros per share, which means the total valuation amounts to 1.1 billion euros.

At issue is the group present in the Portuguese market as the owner of the FNAC and MediaMarkt stores, distributed throughout Portugal and all of Europe, including the United Kingdom. In this regard, Czech magnate Daniel Kretinsky has held a minority stake since 2021, although he has several times reinforced his position. Now, he is making efforts to reach beyond 50% of the votes.
