Canada provides €3.3M for humanitarian aid in Mozambique after floods

Canadian authorities announced a CAD 5.4 million (approx. €3.3 million) funding package to Mozambique to support victims of the recent floods on 25 February 2026.

The contribution was announced by the Canadian Government during a visit by the country’s Deputy Minister for Africa, Cheryl Urban, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and promoting shared prosperity.

The new support package will assist ongoing humanitarian efforts and complements Canada’s existing contributions to the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund and the UN’s disaster assessment and coordination system.

  • CAD 350,000 (€216,800) will fund emergency hygiene and protection services through CARE Canada.

During the visit, four ambulances were also delivered to Mozambique’s Minister of Health for use in the Nampula Province as part of a wider CAD 19.2 million (€11.8 million) project covering several districts.

Since October, widespread flooding has affected more than 868,000 people, activated 149 emergency accommodation centres, and left nearly 34,000 people displace
