Zelensky Presents New 20-Point Peace Plan as Ukraine War Enters Critical Phase

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has presented a new 20-point peace plan aimed at ending the war with Russia, as diplomatic efforts intensify amid continued fighting on the ground and growing international pressure for a political solution.

The proposal, described by Ukrainian officials as a streamlined and pragmatic framework, is intended to serve as a basis for negotiations and international mediation. It focuses on restoring Ukraine’s sovereignty, ensuring long-term security guarantees, and creating conditions for a stable and lasting peace.

Key elements of the plan include a ceasefire linked to clear security assurances for Ukraine, the protection of the country’s territorial integrity, and the establishment of an international mechanism to oversee implementation and compliance. Zelensky has stressed that any peace agreement must prevent future aggression and provide Ukraine with the ability to defend itself.

The plan also addresses humanitarian issues, calling for prisoner exchanges, the return of displaced civilians, and international oversight of critical infrastructure, including energy facilities. Economic recovery and post-war reconstruction feature prominently, with proposals for sustained international financial support.

Despite the diplomatic push, major obstacles remain. Territorial disputes, particularly in eastern and southern Ukraine, continue to be a central point of contention. Russia has not formally accepted the framework, and its position on key aspects of the proposal remains unclear.
