Two women nabbed over HK$70 mln illegal currency exchange

Two women were on Wednesday apprehended for allegedly exchanging up to HK$70 million (US$9 million / MOP71.88 million) through a jewellery shop they ran together in NAPE.

Information from the Judiciary Police indicates that the business was located in a casino area.

Investigators believe that the pair have helped gamblers swap currencies, an act deemed illegal under legal rules against illicit gambling brought into place in October 2024.
