Sands China Ltd. holds a presentation Sept. 17 at The Londoner Macao to showcase the Youth Talent Development System – its long-established, comprehensive, multi-stage talent development strategy – to government agencies, educational institutions, and industry partners. The presentation highlighted the overall framework of Sands China’s talent development system, which addresses the diverse development needs of local youth in Macao at four different stages – secondary school, university, post-graduation, and employment.

Sands China Ltd. held a presentation at The Londoner Macao Sept. 17 to showcase its Youth Talent Development System and to celebrate 154 local students who completed the company’s summer internship programme. The event brought together government agencies, education partners and industry stakeholders to detail a multi-stage strategy that supports youth across four development phases: secondary school, university, post-graduation and employment.

At the secondary level, Sands China collaborated with the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center and Escola Luso-Chinesa Técnico-Profissional to introduce a first-of-its-kind three-year programme focused on stage technology and event production. The Diverse Development Lab series complements this by guiding students through workplace transitions.

For university students, initiatives include the Career Experience Opportunity (CEO) programme, the Integrated Resort Internship Programme, the Summer Trainee Programme, and campus lectures and property visits designed to translate classroom learning into practical experience.

Post-graduation pathways feature more than 20 elite development schemes developed with the Labour Affairs Bureau, offering fast-track promotions, internationally recognised qualifications and “hire and train” models. At the employment stage, the Sands China Academy—comprised of eight specialised sub-academies—provides structured on-the-job training and international certification sponsorships to increase workforce readiness and career mobility.

Grant Chum, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Sands China Ltd., commented in full: “Youth represent the future of Macao, and talent is the key to the sustainable development of the industry and the diversification of the economy. In alignment with the Macao SAR government’s vision for talent development, we have been working closely with various government departments, secondary schools, and higher education institutions over the years to build a youth talent development system that covers different growth stages and provides progressive support for Macao’s youth in career planning. Through a clear and systematic development framework, we hope to enable young people of Macao to find their own paths. I wish all the participants of the summer internship programme a bright future. I also sincerely thank the SAR government for their continued guidance on Sands China’s youth talent development, and thank all schools and training institutions for their continued support.”

Graduates received certificates and were encouraged to incorporate internship experiences into future career planning. Distinguished guests included representatives from the Liaison Office, the Labour Affairs Bureau and the Education and Youth Development Bureau.

Rooted in Macau for over two decades, Sands China’s integrated approach aligns with the SAR government’s “1+4” diversification strategy by cultivating industry-ready talent for tourism, MICE, hospitality and related sectors.
