As of Wednesday evening, local time, the airline had delayed eight hundred and twenty-seven flights and canceled twenty-three. United Airlines stated the disruption was due to a system glitch and that the underlying technical issue had been resolved. The airline’s systems are now gradually returning to normal operations.
United Airlines confirmed the system failure was not a cyberattack and that flights already in the air were not affected. However, due to the backlog of flights from the initial delays, the airline anticipates additional delays.
