Overall crime in Macau falls in Q1, but gaming-related offences surge

Macau’s overall crime rate dropped 7.3 per cent in the first quarter of 2025 compared with the same period last year, security authorities said on Wednesday.

The first-quarter crime report, presented by Secretary for Security Wong Sio Chak, recorded 260 fewer criminal cases by the end of March.

Violent crime fell 27 per cent, with crimes against property and against life showing the steepest declines.
