Legislator Ron Lam on Monday called on the region’s government to “seriously address” issues related to mental health and suicide, highlighting a “lack of transparency” in how information is disseminated by the authorities.
On the issue of suicide, the “current interdepartmental coordination mechanism focuses on post-treatment, lacking resources for early and proactive intervention, as well as measures and means to ensure ongoing emotional and psychiatric support for those in need,” Lam said during a speech at the Legislative Assembly.
