Federal Congressman Eduardo Bolsonaro acknowledged this Wednesday (4th) that his name could serve as Plan B for the right in the 2026 presidential elections, while reaffirming that Plan A remains his father, Jair Bolsonaro, who was declared ineligible by the Superior Electoral Court.
“Plan A is [Jair] Bolsonaro; I can be Plan B,” said Eduardo, who is currently in Buenos Aires, participating in a panel at CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference).
Despite his statement, he emphasized that he is not a candidate in the upcoming Brazilian election.
Both the former president, his children, and the PL, the party that shelters the family, insist on the possibility of reversing Bolsonaro’s ineligibility as the main strategy for the presidential race.
The name of former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro or one of the former president’s sons (Flávio, Eduardo, or Carlos) has been considered as an alternative by allies.
In October, PL President Valdemar Costa Neto mentioned Eduardo as a potential presidential candidate. “The first in line is Tarcísio [de Freitas, governor of São Paulo], but we also have Eduardo Bolsonaro,” he said.
