New York Times journalists on strike

According to news advanced by the North American newspaper, more than 1,100 New York Times workers signed a declaration in which they decided to join the strike for a period of 24 hours.

According to the New York Times union communiqué, it can be read that “the management salary proposal does not consider the current economic moment, being far behind the average salary gains in the USA and inflation”.

The same source informs that unionists are preparing a protest outside the newspaper’s headquarters, scheduled for this afternoon, and recalled that the NYT is not known for carrying out strikes, and it is necessary to go back to 1978 to find a strike organized by workers and journalists. which completely interrupted the publication of news, lasting 88 days.
