Ukrainian President Visits Kherson After Withdrawal of Russian Troops

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday visited Kherson, a strategic city in the south of the country recovered after several months of Russian occupation, a source in his office told AFP.

Zelensky, dressed in military attire but without a helmet or bulletproof vest, walked the city streets alongside heavily armed security guards, according to videos posted on social media.

“Glory to Ukraine!” shouted residents in a building. “Glory to the heroes!” replied the president and the security guards, as tradition dictates.

Russian troops abandoned Kherson a few days ago after eight months of occupation, leaving the way clear for Ukrainian soldiers to enter the city on Friday.
