Every year, food waste is around 88 million tons. According to the most recent data released by the European Parliament, 40% of this figure relates to household waste.

Part of the food we don’t use ends up in places like landfills, where it decomposes anaerobically, expelling methane (a greenhouse gas 25 times more potent than carbon dioxide).
