AS Roma, coached by José Mourinho, surprised and withdrew from playing for the Joan Gamper trophy, at Camp Nou, against Barcelona, days after the friendly game was announced.
The decision came as a surprise to the Spanish club, as the Transalpine side will not have revealed the reasons that led to the withdrawal from the meeting that was scheduled for August 6.
“AS Roma will not be an opponent. The Italian team decided to unilaterally terminate the signed contract without just cause. In the next 24 hours, the club will return the value of the tickets”, said Barcelona, through the official website. The “culés” reinforce that the “circumstances are alien to Barcelona and meet the exclusive will of AS Roma”, so they have already started contacts to find a new opponent.
