Japan wants to turn Tokyo into an international financial center

Japan wants to gain ground in the world of global business and the Government announced today that it will create a special team in English to transform Tokyo into an “international financial city”.

The decision, announced by Japanese Finance Minister Taro Aso, comes in a context in which political problems and social unrest in Hong Kong may give Tokyo the chance to attract activities that have hitherto worked in the semi-autonomous Chinese city.

The team will start operating in January and one of the first missions will be to review regulations and procedures for the registration of financial companies in Japan and facilitate communication in English.
