Brazilian government approves emergency aid for another two months

Planalto chose not to change the amount of the aid to avoid processing in Congress, which is 600 Reais.

The government confirmed on Tuesday (30) the extension of emergency aid. Another R $ 1,200 will be released in the next two months.

Emergency aid is paid to informal workers, self-employed, unemployed and individual microentrepreneurs (MEIs), whose income was reduced during social isolation measures to try to contain the transmission of the new coronavirus.

The government had been pressured by Congress to extend the benefit, despite the cost of the emergency program.
