Rashford “forces” Boris Johnson’s government to pay for children’s meals

Campaign led by young Manchester United striker forced British government to back down.

Boris Johnson’s government gave in to pressure from a campaign led by footballer Marcus Rashford and announced Tuesday that it will fund meals for 1.3 million children in England during the summer school holidays.

The government initially resisted, but this Tuesday the prime minister’s spokesman revealed that he will pay meal vouchers to 1.3 million children in England from low-income families who normally benefit from free school meals.
