Tobacco companies spend millions trying to addict children

“They spend an average of one million dollars an hour because they need to find users to replace the eight million who die prematurely every year”, accuses the WHO.

The World Health Organization on Friday accused the tobacco industry of using a million dollars an hour to try to sell its products and of wanting to add more and more young people to electronic cigarettes as if they were sweets.

“They have a huge budget for‘ marketing ’. They spend an average of one million dollars an hour because they need to find users to replace the eight million who die prematurely every year, ”said the coordinator of the WHO’s No Tobacco Unit, Vinayak Prasad, at a virtual press conference.
