The coronavirus pandemic could lead to a “balance of payments crisis” in Latin America, because the world economy “is in an induced coma” – said the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, on Monday (25).

In an interview with AFP, Borrell also lamented that, “in Europe, people are not aware” of the extent of the Venezuelan migration crisis, on the eve of a donor conference to help these migrants and the host countries.

The Spaniard, whose arrival in December to European diplomacy deepened his interest in Latin America, also addressed thedeadlock in the efforts to resolve the political crisis in the former oil power.
