Council of Ministers approved a national strategy for hydrogen.
It plans to save up to 600 million euros in natural gas imports this decade. The Government has an investment of 7 billion euros in projects related to hydrogen until 2030. The national strategy for hydrogen was approved by the Council of Ministers this Thursday and foresees, in this decade, savings between 300 and 600 million euros. euros in the import of natural gas.
Hydrogen will be used by the country to decrease the ecological footprint and accelerate the country’s decarbonization. To this end, the Government has a green hydrogen production plant in Sines, with a minimum investment of 2.85 billion euros. This project “is focused on leveraging solar energy, but also wind, as factors of competitiveness”.
