Norway qualified today for the quarter-finals of the 2026 football World Cup, a stage the country had never reached before, by defeating five-time champions Brazil 2-1 with a brace from Erling Haaland in East Rutherford.
The Manchester City striker scored in the 79th and 90th minutes, following two assists from Benfica’s Andreas Schjelderup, bringing his tournament tally to seven goals and matching Argentina’s Lionel Messi and France’s Kylian Mbappé.

The goal for Brazil was scored in the 90+1 minute by Neymar Jr from a penalty kick, in a match where Orjan Nyland had previously saved a first penalty from Bruno Guimarães in the 14th minute.
