According to a report from David Ornstein of The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur have successfully won the highly competitive race to secure the signature of midfielder Mateus Fernandes from London rivals West Ham United.
Spurs managed to edge out opposing suitors by submitting the highest proposal for the Portuguese player, with the transfer package believed to be worth an estimated £85 million (close to €100 million) in guaranteed funds.

The astronomical price tag highlights a striking paradox in the midfielder’s rapidly rising career. Despite commanding a near-record fee on the club market, Fernandes was notably left out of Roberto Martínez’s Portugal squad for the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup.
