“With this launch, Cabo Verde Airlines [TACV] will resume direct flights between Praia and Recife, scheduled to begin in May after more than six years, strengthening connectivity between the two countries,” reads a statement from the Ministry of Tourism and Transport.
The official launch will take place at the government palace in Recife and will be presided over by the Minister of Tourism and Transport, José Luís Sá Nogueira.
In this initial phase, there will be one weekly flight using a Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, but the plan is to increase this to two weekly flights by 2026.
According to the ministry, the route aims to strengthen connectivity between Cape Verde and Brazil, boost tourism, increase passenger traffic, and promote the archipelago as a stopover destination.

“From Praia, passengers will now have easier access to destinations in Europe and Africa through efficient connections, and the route will also contribute to the development of bilateral trade by facilitating cargo transport and creating new business opportunities,” he added. With this initiative, Cape Verde aims to strengthen the country’s position as a strategic aviation hub in the Mid-Atlantic.
In December 2025, the Civil Aviation Agency (AAC) approved the 120-minute ETOPS certification for Cabo Verde Airlines, allowing the carrier to operate transatlantic flights with its fleet and strengthen its operational capacity for long-haul routes.
Before flights to Brazil were suspended in 2020, Cabo Verde Airlines served cities such as Fortaleza, Recife, Salvador, and Porto Alegre.
