American actor Will Smith was received in Luanda by Angolan President João Lourenço, where he expressed his intention to film action scenes for a future installment of the Bad Boys series in Angola.

“I’m happy to be here in Angola,” said Smith, noting that he discussed several topics with the president, including the possibility of shooting scenes from the popular action saga, which stars Smith and Martin Lawrence as Miami detectives.

“I thought about filming an action sequence and asked him if he would be willing to drive a car in a race against me in one of the scenes—we’re trying to coordinate that,” Smith told journalists after the meeting.

Smith has been in Angola since Wednesday as part of a delegation from the E1 World Championship, led by its president Alejandro Agag. The visit marks the announcement of Luanda as a host city for the electric powerboat championship, making it the second African location on the calendar.

The actor, visiting Angola for the first time, praised the country’s “good energy.” A longtime admirer of Angolan music, he highlighted Bonga, revealing that the song “Mona Ki Ngi Xica” has been his alarm tone for the past decade.

Smith is also set to attend the launch ceremony of the E1 Luanda Grand Prix 2026 and the “Blue Dinner,” an event aimed at attracting investment in nautical tourism.

The UIM E1 World Championship is the first international powerboat competition featuring fully electric boats. It includes teams backed by global stars such as LeBron James, Tom Brady, and Rafael Nadal, with races held in cities like Monaco, Miami, Jeddah, Dubrovnik, and Lagos.
