Nottingham Forest, managed by Vítor Pereira, won 3-0 away at Tottenham today, lifting themselves out of the Premier League relegation zone, while West Ham, managed by Nuno Espírito Santo, were beaten 2-0 by Aston Villa.

In matchday 31 fixture, Forest — who will face FC Porto in the Europa League quarter-finals — benefited from goals by Brazilian Igor Jesus (45′), Morgan Gibbs-White (62′) and Nigerian Taiwo Awoniyi (87′) to leapfrog both Tottenham and West Ham in the table. Forest climbed to 16th with 32 points, while Spurs dropped to 17th with 30, both still in the relegation battle alongside West Ham.

Aston Villa, managed by Spaniard Unai Emery, consolidated fourth place — the last Champions League qualifying position — with goals from Scottish midfielder John McGinn (15′) and Ollie Watkins (68′). Villa moved to 54 points and pulled further clear of fifth-placed Liverpool (49 points), who lost 2-1 to Brighton on Saturday.

They also closed in on third-placed Manchester United (55 points), who drew 2-2 at Bournemouth on Friday in a game featuring Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot.

West Ham, who started Mateus Fernandes — recently called up for the first time to the Portuguese national squad — are now 18th with 29 points.

Newcastle were surprised at home by Sunderland, losing the Tyne-Wear derby 2-1, and drop to 12th with 42 points, passed by Sunderland (11th, 43). Anthony Gordon gave Newcastle the lead on 10 minutes, but the Black Cats turned it around in the second half through Moroccan Chemsdine Talbi (57′) and Dutch striker Brian Brobbey (90′).
