Macau received 4.17 million visitors in February, up 32.6% from the same month in 2025, boosted by the Lunar New Year holidays, the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) announced today.
January had already reached its highest figure for that month since 1998, despite the Lunar New Year — an extended holiday period in mainland China and a tourism peak for Macau — falling at the end of February this year (February 17), compared to January 29 in 2025.
The vast majority of February visitors came from mainland China, with 3.29 million arrivals — up 43.6% year-on-year. Hong Kong contributed 591,300 visitors (+2%) and Taiwan 89,628 (+31.9%). International visitors, however, fell 3.3% to 200,848.

In Southeast Asia, the Philippines stood out with 45,195 arrivals (+16.3%), while Indonesia (11,587) and Thailand (9,973) recorded drops of 22.3% and 11.4% respectively. India totalled 5,831 visitors (+42.5%), South Korea 55,994 (-5.6%) and the United States 11,142 (+5.5%).
Attracting more international tourists has been a repeatedly stated goal of Macau’s tourism authorities, who set a target of more than three million international tourists for 2025 — a figure that fell short at 2.76 million, though still up 13.7% from 2024. In February 17, the director of Macau’s Tourism Services highlighted Portugal as a priority market for attracting more foreign visitors.
In the first two months of 2026 combined, Macau received 7.82 million visitors — up 15.1% from the same period in 2025 — with international visitor arrivals reaching 479,301, a 6.8% increase year-on-year.
