The Turkish government warned Iran today that it will respond to hostile behaviour, after NATO air defences in the country intercepted an Iranian ballistic missile whose debris fell on Turkish soil.
Turkey “will not hesitate to defend” its territory and airspace and “will respond to hostile behaviour within the framework of international law,” assured the head of the Presidential Communications Directorate, Burhanettin Duran.

The spokesperson said Turkey is “in contact with its NATO allies,” according to a statement published on social media and cited by the Spanish news agency EFE.
NATO defences in Turkey earlier intercepted an Iranian missile over the Eastern Mediterranean, with debris from the interceptor falling in the far south of the country without causing casualties or damage, the Turkish government said.
