Macau welcomed 227,943 visitors on the third day of the Lunar New Year, the highest daily figure on record, according to Macao Public Security Police Force . The previous record of 221,968 visitors had been set in 2025 during the “golden week” of Labor Day.
In total, 750,114 border crossings were recorded, slightly below the forecast of 780,000. The main entry point, the Portas do Cerco, saw nearly 463 thousand movements, the highest daily figure in the last five years.
Before the festivities began on February 8, the territory had already recorded a peak of 867,000 entries and exits in a single day.
Nationally, the “Chunyun” period, which marks the world’s largest annual migration, is expected to reach 9.5 billion trips, according to Li Chunlin, of the National Development and Reform Commission of China, surpassing the record set in 2024.
