The drums of war are sounding again: former Defense Minister and geopolitical analyst José Azeredo Lopes states that “it is not at all unreasonable to consider that the possibility of a new conflict between the US and Iran is imminent,” at a time when an increase in the movement of American aircraft at the Lajes Base, on the island of Terceira in the Azores, is being recorded.
On Wednesday afternoon, 11 refueling aircraft KC-46 Pegasus, 12 fighter jets F-16 Viper, and one military cargo plane C-17 Globemaster III were parked at Lajes Air Base. During the afternoon, some of the fighter jets took off and landed again.
