The first day of the new school year in Macau took place without significant traffic disruptions, with a 10% increase in bus trips and overall road circulation considered smooth and orderly, authorities announced.

Representatives from the Transport Bureau (DSAT), the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ), the Public Security Police Force (CPSP), the Traffic Advisory Council, and the two bus companies closely monitored traffic conditions from the Traffic Control and Information Center.

According to official data, between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on Monday more than 2,000 bus trips were made, carrying over 123,000 passengers—figures close to those recorded at the start of the previous school year. Around 13,000 trips were made using student cards. To meet demand, bus operators deployed staff to manage the busiest stops and introduced higher-capacity vehicles.

Throughout the morning, road circulation remained fluid without major congestion. Authorities nevertheless warned of a likely increase in demand over the week as more schools resume classes, recommending that teachers, students, and parents plan their journeys in advance, prioritize the use of public transport, and use designated drop-off and pick-up areas near schools to avoid illegal parking and additional pressure on the roads.
