More fireworks displays take place this Saturday

The 31st The Macau International Fireworks Display Contest (MIFDC), organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), will hold the fifth and sixth fireworks displays this Saturday (23 September).

The displays are presented by pyrotechnic companies from the Philippines and Japan, at 9:00 pm and 9:40 pm, respectively. Residents and visitors are invited to watch the shows and feel the joyful atmosphere of the event, enriching nighttime activities and promoting the community economy.

“Tales of Magic” with four chapters

The fireworks show titled “Tales of Magic” is scheduled for 9pm on Saturday (23rd) and will be presented by the fireworks company LF Fireworks Inc of the Philippines. The show is made up of four chapters: “Villain’s Magical Spell,” “Magic of a Genie,” “Dreams of Magic,” and “You are the Magic,” which through fireworks and music, will show hidden fantastic stories in magic.

Founded in 1969, the family company LF Fireworks Inc is dedicated to the production of high-quality, spectacular and safe aerial pyrotechnic displays and products. He has received several awards, such as the Grand Audience Prize at the Canadian international fireworks festival GlobalFest 2018 and First Place in the Pyromelodic Competition at the 2017 Christmas Festival in Dakbayan sa General Santos (Philippines), and has planned several shows of large fireworks.

“Colorful Japan” in an elaborate production

The MIFDC show under the theme “Colorful Japan”, will start at 9:40 pm, and will be presented by the Japanese pyrotechnic company Marutamaya Ogatsu Fireworks Co, Ltd. The show contains the spirit and delicacy of Japanese cartoon (anime) music, accompanied by beautiful fireworks, showing the emotional encounter between the two cultures of fireworks and Japanese cartoons.

Founded in 1864, the pyrotechnic company Marutamaya Ogatsu Fireworks Co, Ltd has developed over more than 150 years, with its pyrotechnic technology being passed down from generation to generation. The company won MIFDC in 2019, 2016 and 1993, and in 2018, came second, having also planned several large-scale fireworks shows.

Five best spots to enjoy the displays for a lively and romantic evening

To watch the fireworks shows, residents and visitors can go to the five best-suggested viewing spots, enjoying a lively and romantic evening: on Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Avenue from Kun Iam Ecumenical Center to Leisure Area on the edge of the Kun Iam Statue, on the riverside promenade of the Macau Science Center, at Anim’Arte Nam Van, on Avenida de Sagres (next to the Hotel Mandarin Oriental, Macau) and Avenida do Oceano, in Taipa.

Broadcast on radio and television

On the other hand, the channels TDM OU MUN, TDM Entretenimento, Ou Mun – Macau (satellite channel) and the TDM website broadcast the event live. The Chinese channel of Radio Macau (FM100.7) broadcasts, in real time, the background music that accompanies the fireworks shows, at 9:00 pm and 9:40 pm each night.

Contingency plan in case of typhoon or bad weather

As MIFDC takes place during the typhoon season, in the event of a typhoon or severe weather, DST, through an interdepartmental mechanism, closely monitors the specific weather forecast provided by the Meteorological and Geophysical Services Directorate to assess the impact on the safety of carrying out the shows, and the possible need to implement the action plans set out in the contingency plan. If there are changes to the event program, the public will be informed as soon as possible, for which attention and understanding are requested.
