Portugal: Greenvolt enters Greece solar energy market

Greenvolt Next Greece, in partnership with Globalsat-Teleunicom Group, will operate in Greece in the distributed generation of renewable energy for self-consumption, in the commercial and industrial segments, it was announced on Tuesday.

In a statement, Greenvolt – Renewable Energies states that “Greece is the fourth market for Greenvolt Next, a country that is making a strong commitment to renewable energy, boosting the growth of self-consumption solutions.

“The entry in Greece materializes the presence of Greenvolt Next Holding (‘subholding’ of the Greenvolt Group) in new geographies, raising to four the number of countries, after Portugal, Spain and Poland, in which it offers its solutions of distributed generation of energy obtained from renewable sources,” informs Greenvolt.

“The entry into the Greek market is a fundamental step for the group’s affirmation in the generation of energy from renewable sources and, above all, through distributed generation, which will increasingly be a critical factor for the sustainability and diversification of the energy mix in Europe,” says Greenvolt’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), João Manso Neto, quoted in the statement.

Neto also indicates that, with the aim of accelerating development, the energy company has “Globalsat-Teleunicom Group, one of the fastest growing economic groups in Greece with deep knowledge of the market.

Greenvolt Next Greece bases its activity on the development of energy generation projects through solar photovoltaic panels, for self-consumption, but also on the creation and management of energy communities and the management of a network of charging stations for electric vehicles, the company said in the statement.

“The distributed generation solutions will contribute to the decarbonisation of the Greek economy, but will also strengthen the competitiveness of Greek companies by reducing their energy bills,” the company adds.

“In the framework of REPower EU, Greece is making a strong commitment to the development of renewable energy through multiple technologies, taking advantage of the country’s high number of hours of solar irradiation,” indicates the company, which adds that “the (Greek) government expects to have an installed capacity of energy production obtained from renewable sources of 28 GW, this being accompanied by the target of reaching 7GW of storage capacity.”
