West ‘wants to wipe out’ Russia for good

Russian President Vladimir Putin assured this Tuesday that Russia will achieve its goals in Ukraine “step by step”, while describing the moment the country is experiencing as “difficult”.

“To ensure the security of our country, to eliminate the threat posed by the neo-Nazi regime that emerged in Ukraine after the 2014 coup, it was decided to carry out a special military operation. Step by step, carefully and consistently, we will achieve the tasks we are facing,” Putin said in his State of the Nation address before the chambers of parliament.

Putin also accused the West of wanting to impose on Russia a “strategic defeat” in Ukraine and end the country “once and for all”.

“[They] want to end it [with Russia] once and for all,” he said.

The speech, the first on the State of the Nation given by Putin in almost two years, comes three days before the first anniversary of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, which began in the early hours of February 24, 2022, is marked.

The Kremlin did not allow media from countries considered to be “enemies” to obtain accreditation for media coverage of the speech.
