Shooting in Paris kills at least two

Two people died and four were injured, two seriously, in central Paris this Friday after a shootout. The suspect in the attack, a 69-year-old man with a criminal record, has been detained, according to French police.

The shots were fired around 11 am (Portugal time), in the 10th district of the French capital.

According to the French newspaper “Le Parisien”, the suspect opened fire on the public road, next to the Kurdish Ahmet-Kaya Cultural Centre.

“We heard seven or eight shots. It was total panic”, described a witness to the AFP agency.

For now, the suspect’s motives are unknown.
