Macau infrastructure sites affected by Alibaba glitch

Several websites, of important infrastructure in Macau, were affected by the Alibaba Cloud failure, and were not accessible from midday on Sunday (18), including government and social media websites and applications.

Police announced that the Network Security Accident Emergency and Early Warning Center received a report that the websites were unavailable due to a fault in the Alibaba Cloud computer room in Hong Kong.

Ou Mun Tintoi cited the Macau Monetary Authority, Galaxy, the Lotus television channel, and the Macau Cement Factory, among others.

Food delivery platforms such as mFood, as well as local media apps such as Macau Daily, were also said to be temporarily unavailable.

The political information stated that the Cyber Security Center had contacted the relevant operators, and was monitoring the situation.

Hong Kong’s AliBaba server cloud computing glitch is resolved today.

The break in services was caused by a failure in the ventilation of the servers – which overheated – clarified AliBaba in a statement in which it also apologizes for what happened.
