Liu Xianfa highlights the CCP’s long-term commitment to the principle of “One Country, Two Systems”

The “One Country, Two Systems” principle is to be respected in the long term. It was one of the conclusions that came out of the twentieth congress of the Communist Party of China and that is highlighted by the Commissioner of Foreign Affairs in the MSAR. In a meeting with Macau’s Portuguese and English-language media, with delegates from the Macau Forum and Macao SAR chambers of commerce, Liu Xianfa highlighted other guidelines for Macau that came out of the Party Congress.

The Commissioner for Foreign Affairs in the Macao SAR highlighted that the Congress had given clear guidance that the “One Country, Two Systems” principle remains the best policy to guarantee the development and prosperity of Macau and Hong Kong and that it is a principle which should continue to apply in the long term.

Liu Xianfa also highlighted that Macau will continue to be governed by the people of Macau with a high degree of autonomy, but always guaranteeing the full jurisdiction of the Central Government in the region. Another conclusion of the congress: the capitalist system is to be maintained in Macau and Hong Kong and the two regions need to be led by Governments with strong executive capacity, exercising governance based on law, but improving judicial and legal systems.
