Rumors of salary reduction after tender for gaming concessions in Macau dispelled

The uncertainty about the future after the issue of the new gaming concessions is settled has led to some speculation, including the idea that operators may cut salaries. The government dismissed the hypothesis, which it categorized as “rumors circulating on the internet”.

The issue of salaries and the weight of non-gaming elements imposed by the government on concession bidders has led to some speculation about the future of the industry. In the last few days, posts were shared on social media that talked about pay cuts after the public tender was over.

The Directorate of Inspection and Coordination of Gaming (DICJ) issued a statement on Sunday night to put water on the boil: “Regarding information circulating on the Internet that after the competition for the award of concessions for the operation of games of chance in casinos will occur the salary reduction of workers, the Directorate of Inspection and Coordination of Gaming reiterates that such information is just rumors without any factual basis.
