President of Portuguese Parliament believes in calm climate during Angolan elections

The Ambassador of Angola in Portugal, Carlos Alberto Fonseca, was received yesterday by the President of the Assembly of the Portuguese Republic, Augusto Santos Silva, to whom he informed about the process of preparation of the Elections on the 24th of this month.

Carlos Alberto Fonseca underlined the excellent relations between the two countries and thanked Portugal for its support in consolidating bilateral relations, as well as Augusto Santos Silva’s condolence letter on the death of former President José Eduardo dos Santos.

The president of the Assembly of the Portuguese Republic, for his part, was fully convinced that the elections in Angola will take place in the usual climate of tranquility. He stressed the maturity and civic spirit that the Angolan people have shown and emphasized the presence of two Portuguese deputies in the CPLP observer mission.

Augusto Santos Silva also highlighted the excellent relations between the parliaments of the two countries and assured that Portugal is willing to strengthen them further, either bilaterally or through the international organizations to which both countries belong.
