The president defends the certification of Anvisa for vaccine distribution.
President Jair Bolsonaro said on Thursday (26), during his weekly live on social networks, that a national plan for immunization against covid-19 is practically ready and that the federal government will acquire a vaccine as long as it is authorized by National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa).
“Once certified by Anvisa, any medication and any vaccine, on our part, we immediately arrange the purchase. And a program, a national immunization plan is practically ready in Health for us to vaccinate anyone who wants to, ”he said.
The Ministry of Health has an agreement to purchase a potential application by the British pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, in partnership with the University of Oxford, including a pact for the transfer of technology and local production of the immunizer by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz).
The federal government maintains contact with other foreign laboratories that develop doses against covid-19 and that, if approved, can also be purchased for general immunization of the population. This Wednesday (25th), the pharmaceutical Pfizer informed that it started the registration application process with Anvisa.
