Ghebreyesus argued that “the world needs unprecedented global collaboration”, adding that of the 220 vaccines under development, “it is certain that the majority will fail”.
The WHO director-general said on Wednesday that the covid-19 pandemic “is growing at an alarming rate” and defended the need to invest in the necessary infrastructure for the production and distribution of a vaccine.
According to the director of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Ghebreyesus, “it took three weeks, at the beginning of the pandemic, to reach the first million infected, but now there have been another million infected in just one week”.
