Japan supports East Timor with 4.6 million in the fight against Covid-19

Japan has offered East Timor US$4.6 million to help fight Covid-19, and a protocol was signed between the two countries on Tuesday.

The agreement was signed between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste, Dionisío da Costa Babo Soares, and the Ambassador of Japan in Dili, Kinefuchi Masami.

According to the Japanese ambassador, this money aims to equip the medical institutions of East Timor. “With the funds, East Timor will be able to obtain the necessary medical equipment of good quality, including ambulances. Japan, as a long-standing partner for more than 20 years, aims to give timorese a better life. This funding for medical equipment to address the threat of Covid-19 is just another step in cordial relations between the two nations “Lorosae”, confessed Kenefuchi Masami.
