On the day that the restaurants were able to reopen, DN went to check the final preparations before doors opened. From safety measures to the (much) hope that everything will return as quickly as it was before the covid-19. Even if it’s a new normal.

This Monday, May 18, marked the first day of restaurants’ reopening. However, it did not convince many of the fine dining restaurants to open. There were some who postponed the opening until the end of the week, like Chef Ljubomir Stanisic’s “100 Maneiras”, or next week, like “Gambrinus”, or even early June – as will be the case with “Bairro do Avillez” by chef José Avillez.
But there are those who have come forward. JNcQOI Asia on Avenida da Liberdade, now deserted by tourists, was one of those places. Minutes before the opening, scheduled for 12 noon, chef António Bóia, always wearing a mask, welcomed Diário de Notícias to explain what had changed in one of the most frequented restaurants on Lisbon’s avenue.
