The members of the Council of the Republic recommended, yesterday, the third extension of the State of Emergency for another 15 days, but defended the need to find a balance between social confinement and the search for survival.
“It becomes evident the difficulty that a large part of the population has to face the restrictive measures of the State of Emergency due to the lack of means of subsistence and the cases of hunger in families increase,” says the statement of the meeting chaired by the Head of State, João Lourenço. According to the statement, read by the spokesperson for the meeting, Rosa Cruz e Silva, the next extension of the State of Emergency, for another 15 days, finds justification in the fact that the reasons that still justified the declaration of the first periods still persist, through Presidential Decree 81/20 and the extension for two successive periods of 15 days.
