Former French international and coach Zinédine Zidane was officially confirmed as the new France national team coach, the French Football Federation (FFF) announced today.
“Zinédine Zidane will be the coach of the French national team for the next four years,” declared FFF president Philippe Diallo, at the Federation’s headquarters, alongside Zidane.

The former midfielder, world champion with the ‘bleus’ in 1998, succeeds his former teammate Didier Deschamps in the role, who had been national coach since 2012 and stepped down after the 2026 World Cup.
Under Deschamps, France became world champions in 2018, in Russia, runners-up in 2022, in Qatar, and semifinalists this year, in a tournament co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, in which they were eliminated in the semifinals by champions Spain (2-0).
