The Portuguese national team is training today in Cancún for the first time, as part of preparations for Saturday’s friendly against Mexico, which serves as a warm-up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals.
The Portuguese delegation arrived in Playa del Carmen, a popular beach and tourist area, late Tuesday and will conduct their first session on Mexican soil today.
Portugal has a training session scheduled for 18:30 local time (23:30 Lisbon) at the Maykoba Training Center, a sports complex adjacent to the hotel where the team is staying. The first 15 minutes of the session will be open to the media.
The session will feature forward Paulinho, who only joined the team in Mexico, as he plays in the local league for Toluca.

On Tuesday, during the last training at the Cidade do Futebol in Oeiras, midfielders Pedro Gonçalves and João Neves only did recovery work on stationary bikes next to the pitch.
Before the session, at 17:00 local time (22:00 Lisbon), a player will speak to journalists at a nearby golf school.
The national team will remain in Cancún until Friday, the day before facing Mexico at 02:00 Lisbon time on Saturday, during the reopening of the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
Portugal will also play another friendly against the United States on 31 March in Atlanta.
At the 2026 World Cup, taking place from 11 June to 19 July in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, Portugal is in Group K, along with Uzbekistan, Colombia, and an opponent to be decided from an intercontinental play-off between the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Jamaica, and New Caledonia.
