Supreme Court judge Alexandre de Moraes opened an inquiry against the businessman in 2024 for “obstruction of justice,” among other charges, in the context of a lengthy dispute over social media regulation.
Police alleged that individuals linked to far-right former president Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2022) had created a “digital militia” using X accounts — since blocked — to spread “false information” and fuel political polarisation.

“We do not have evidence to support the initial claim of malicious use of the social network X to undermine the authority of the Brazilian judicial system,” Alexandre de Moraes agreed.
