Viral video shows woman with passport from nonexistent country, sparks warning on misinformation

A video that went viral on social media, showing a woman presenting a passport from “Torenza” — a country that does not exist on any map or official database — has sparked online theories and speculation about parallel universes and mysterious travel.

The clip, widely shared on TikTok, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter), shows the woman arriving at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York, allegedly from Tokyo, with a passport issued in the name of “Torenza”, a country not recognized by the UN, aviation databases, or ISO codes.

Independent fact-checkers confirmed that there are no official records of any incident at JFK involving this woman. Experts indicate that the video was likely AI-generated or digitally manipulated, including fake passports and stamps, giving the appearance of authenticity but with no real-world basis.

The phenomenon recalls old urban legends, such as the “Man from Taured” in 1954, who allegedly arrived in Tokyo with a passport from a nonexistent country before mysteriously disappearing.
