The Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Government will put into operation, before the Chinese New Year, a set of essential infrastructure in Zone A of the New Landfills, including commercial spaces for public housing and new public transport solutions, with the aim of gradually improving the quality of life of residents and the accessibility of the area.
The measures were closely monitored by the Secretary for Transport and Public Works, Tam Vai Man, who, together with the services under his supervision, made another visit to Zone A to assess the state of the complementary facilities, the occupancy of the units, and the actual road and pedestrian traffic conditions. According to the Government, these visits aim to identify the specific needs of the population and promote continuous improvements in the area.
In the area of public transport, a temporary bus stop is planned to be installed on Tai On Avenue, between the Tong Seng and Tong Chong buildings, allowing the extension of route No. 2A to Zone A. A temporary bus terminal will also be created on Rua Três da Zona Este, strengthening connections to the central and southern areas of the city. At the same time, route 103 will be extended to cover the Iao Hon neighborhood.
The authorities emphasize that these changes will result in increased travel options, better coordination between routes, and reduced walking distances to stops.
Optimization of public bus services in Zone A of the New Urban Landfills (GCS)
With the progressive increase in the number of residents, the Executive is also accelerating the adaptation of commercial spaces in the Tong Chong Building, intended for the installation of a supermarket, restaurants, and a pharmacy. The Government is also supporting tenants in the licensing process so that the establishments can open in a short period of time, preferably before the Chinese New Year.

At the same time, preparations are underway for the launch of a public tender for the lease of a second set of commercial spaces for public housing in Zone A, still during the current year. The plan includes convenience stores, restaurants, and other general commercial establishments, with the aim of diversifying the range of services available to residents.
In terms of social infrastructure, the Health Center and daycare center located in the Tong Chong Building are already in operation. Other community facilities are in the early stages of construction and are expected to come into operation in phases, in line with the growth of the resident population.
With regard to road works, the high-voltage power cables on Central Avenue in the East Zone have already been transferred to the technical gallery. Work on the streets and drainage system is underway and is expected to be completed in phases between the end of January and the end of April. With the opening of this road, the Government hopes to significantly improve the accessibility and flow of traffic in Zone A.
